Picture Description

The original Mona Lisa "was painted by Leonardo da Vinci. His world-famous masterpiece shows a woman with an enigmatic smile. One reason for the popularity is certainly that it was not possible until now to identify the sitter with certainty. The first assignment was made by Giorgio Vasari, the great Italian chronicler of the history of Italian art. He called the picture "Lisa del Gioconda" (in Italian, the image will be "called La Gioconda," French "la Joconde). If Vasari are right - and in fact is nothing wrong - then would the Mona Lisa, the third wife of Florentine merchant Francesco di Bartolomeo di Zanobi del Giocondo. But even if the person of the Mona Lisa would be clearly identified historically, there still remained the mystery of the smile. It sits so as incredibly gentle, mild as they would smile at the fascinated viewer. Perhaps that is the reason why the image Leonardo delivered properly, but it just keep to yourself. Here's a cite of an article in the artist-painting-blog: "Mona Lisa's popularity and the overwhelming stature, various painters have often produced some modifications and caricatures of the painting. In 1919, Marcel Duchamp, one of the most influential Dadaists, created L.H.O.O.Q. which was a Mona Lisa parody made by using a cheap reproduction with a mustache and a goatee, as well as adding the rude inscription which when read out loud in French sounds like "Elle a chaud au cul" that means "she has a hot ass". This is a manner of implying that the woman in the painting is in a state of sexual excitement and availability. This portrait was actually a joke referring to Leonardo's homosexuality."
