No rest on the flight to Egypt (drawing)

Image Description

This drawing tsammt from a series called "war landscapes". Template is a photo from the Gaza Strip that shows a completely destroyed house after a bomb attack. In contrast to the photo, however, this drawing is only black and white - it was drawn with a pencil ink pen on paper. Next to the dark figure on the lower left - a veiled woman wearing a black cloak - three children can be seen walking out of the picture to the right. Following the art historical tradition, I call this picture "No rest on the flight to Egypt". It thematizes the inhuman cruelty of war and the suffering of the population, especially the children.
