Beekeeper after Bruegel the Elder (pencil drawing)

Image Description

After relatively many colored pictures in the neo-Pointilist style, it's time to draw some pencil drawings again. Since I am motivisch just in the early baroque Wlt of Pieter Bruegel the Elder on the way, it was obvious to take some Bruegel drawings as templates. Let's start with the beekeepers.

The drawing seems mysterious, almost like a ghost picture, for two reasons. First, there are virtually no lines visible through the drawn dots. Everything is a billowing, light gray area. Second, I used a 4H pencil - maybe 6H. That was not indenting at all, but a material or marking error by Faber-Castell. Actually, I had grabbed a B5 pencil from my pencil box - but unfortunately it turned out to be very hard and cold. After the first points I wanted to know it but then: how does such a point drawing, if it is very bright, pale and low contrast?

.

I am quite satisfied with the result. This silvery pallor gives the drawing a mysterious depth, which I had not expected.
