Julius Ceaser Drawing

Image Description

This is the last (planned) pencil drawing for my new ebook about learning to draw. I'm almost finished, but still needed a portrait drawing. For this drawing I used an Estompe for the first time. Very practical, I must say. Up to now I have only used a paper towel for blurring. With an Estompe, which can be guided like a pencil, you actually have much more control.

Procedure:
First I drew a simple line drawing with an HB pencil. Then I hatched the rough darkness with a soft B6 pencil. Then I blurred this layer with an Estompe. Then I emphasized and blended the darkness with a B4-pencil. I have etched with a (sticky) rubber from Faber-Castell (I can recommend).
